WHAT DID HE DO THAT MADE HIM CRACK? -
SAFE HOUSE - INSTALLATION

Honourable Mention - Wyndham Art Prize, 2023

When I learned of the shocking and largely un-reported statistics that surround women who are killed by their ‘intimate partner’, I was compelled to speak up for them by making artworks highlighting the brutal facts.

As a symbol of home, a tent may be an alternate place to lay your head, but is certainly not a safe place.

Safe House is made from tea-towels, as a symbol of women’s domesticity.

Emblazoned with headlines telling shocking stories they implicate apathy, the media, and a broken system as some of the factors that lead to terrible outcomes for victims of family violence.
